Is it a safe program to download, that will not cause any problems on my pc? If not, are there other programs similar to it, that are better or safer.
i use it on my older computer which has windows 98 on it. It works well and doesn’t seem to slow it down, although I’ve heard it uses quite a bit of memory..that is not my experience. It’s just reassuring to see that a website is considered safe by the green tag Advisor displays. If you try it out, you can always uninstall it if it doesn’t help you out.

Site Advisor came pre-loaded on my laptop, and does a decent job when searching for sites on Google. It rates sites as safe or not via how much SPAM McAffe gets back when visiting the sites themselves. However, when I link to sites via emails, or links on sites (like newspaper sites) sometimes Site Advisor "fails to load" and then freezes up the web browser. It’s annoying as it "dings" several times per minute to let you know that it didn’t load, and then when you aren’t expecting it, causes your browser to close.
