Just installed the McAfee Site Advisor add on for Firefox, as added security with my AVG Safe Search add on. As a test i Googled "The Pirate Bay", and AVG’s result is 2 exclamation marks with the message "This site contains the potential for active threat delivery", but McAfees result is a green tick with the message "We tested this site and didn’t find any significant problems".
Which is the one i can trust? Thanks
McAfee can barely find itself much less a threat. Get WOT for Firefox instead

Ok, so a few days ago, I download a game called dance online!.
but i unstalled it cuz it got boring..
Next thing i know, slowly my computer stops working.
Like for example , i can’t send email nor check it.
and i can’t post a status on myspace or facebook.
I already had the mcaffe site advisor downloaded and it would always lightup and tell me what sites were good and bad.
but after i uninstalled that game the site advisor stopped working, and now it’s just gray with a question mark.
And it’s been like this for about almost a week ):
So could someone plz help me figure out what’s wrong.
I reeally do believe i have some sort of virus on my computer but i don’t knoww .
What do you think?
Your pc may get infected by malware. Get rid of malware using Malwarebytes.
Malwarebytes

Should work.
Hope this helps.
Both, when just getting online more-so……..but only IE occasionally while browsing. At times, IE will give the message when just opened, but still stay on-line, When Site Advisor goes down, you must re-open browser to get it back up.
Anyone experiencing this or any solution???…….This is a recent development….
Yes I have experienced it,
Basically if that happens what i did was:
1. Remove Mcafee Siteadvisor
Thats it, your I>E will be fine
I’m an administrator so lemme no
as the question said can i have systematic’s norton internet security and also have mcafee site advisor or can i only have 1 i want mcafee site advisor because norton doesent tell you if the sites are good or bad some help please?
Hi..:-)))
Sure you can, I have both.. I even run them at the same time, I find Norton finds more crap than Mcafee.. But, yes you can have and run both honey.. Good Luck!!
Okay, so I’ve had McAfee Site Advisor for a while now and never had this problem before. Its really annoying and usually when I open Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer a little grey box comes up saying "Your New McAfee Site Advisor Software Has Been Updated!" Then it goes on to say it has added new software for my enhanced protection. It says new feature settings and has a little tic box so I can enable or disable the following - Enable Secure Search Box (Requires Browser Restart)
Block red sites from Secure Box results
Use Yahoo! for my default browser search
It then says I can change these settings from the main menu
It has a little box with an X so I can close it and also another box that says finish. Whatever one I click It goes to this site - http://www.siteadvisor.com/download/postinstall.html?pip=true&installchoice=2 Then the same message comes up again, with the same options and then whatever I click it opens ANOTHER internet on the SAME site with the SAME message. Over and over and over and over again. It also makes whatever I was doing before (lets say like… typing something into a search bar) well it makes it stop so I have to pay attention to the message… So then I click something and the same thing happens… another internet in the same site. I’ve tried to figure it out but nothings working so far… The only reason I’ve managed to get onto this and ask this question is sometimes, very rarely, it stops and lets me do what i want for a bit till the message comes up with another internet and stuff. Please Help!!
try uninstalling it and re install you could have had a bad update –it does happen with the internet (hicups)—when there is a moment when there is a break in the connection
I have IE 7 & FF 3 loaded as my browsers. I have dsl with att yahoo. I have loaded Yahoo’s McAfee security suite which is bundled with a site advisor. I run Windows XP.
My dilemma is that I use firefox the majority of the time so I downloaded McAfee site advisor 26.6 for FF. I already had McAfee site advisor 2.8 for IE. The next day I went into my computer & found 26.6 had been deleted showing only 2.8.
What do I need to do? I really want the correct version so it works correctly for firefox. Do I need to keep the bundled site advisor in my mcafee security suite or uninstall it & install 2.8 or 26.6 for firefox.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Go for avast I use it some time a go when XP was at it’s best.
XP is outdated now but frankly its a good little OS.
To day I use the Ubuntu. The security is the best I will say that. I have no problem whit spyware or virus.
And I will always thank Linux for a good job.
Hi Guys,
I have recently installed the free version of mcafee site advisor, there is suppose to be either a red or green taqb somewhere in or near my browser to tell me if the program etc is safe or not.
It doesn’t appear anywhere on my page, it does on its own page after finishing loading, but as soon as I select another page or site, it isn’t there.
I have installed and uninstalled it many times, but no luck. Can anyone help please.
I am in UK , i am using BT option 3
Thank you
At the bottom right of your menu, address ect. bars. At the far right past the address bar. If you are using the Google toolbar….Just to the right of the little browser….
i have mcafee site advisor running on ie7 and firefox but does it now work with bt yahoo or is their anything else that does the same job with yahoo
but does it now work with bt yahoo -YES.
Every time I open a browser whether in explorer or firefox the Mcafee site advisor pops up a large blank blue info bubble and it completely freezes the page. BUT if i open a second browser, it works BUT i HAVE TO leave up the frozen browser, because if i close the frozen browser it will only bring up another frozen browser when i open a browser again…ANY IDEAS?
Search for it on Google or YouTube
They give excellent results
Hope I helped
Cheers!
Rohan
Everytime I go to surfthechannel.com, this comes up:
When we browsed this site, it made unathorized changes to our test PC.
I never had this problem when I went on this website. What does it all mean?
Then under that, it says either Read Site report or Add to approved sites.
And then to upgrade to this this and that.
I wouldnt go there again as I just checked it and got the red warning from site advisor. Untill they fix it I wouldnt use it. Every time I have gone against that warning I have something to dig out of my regystry or some file, and even running problems. I Like Mcafees and trust the warning. its been good to me for 3 or 4 years. Before that I used Nortons, and had many problems that no longer bother my computer. It’s good measure to pay heed to the warning. But if you really like the site call Mcafes and they will maybe help the people who run the site so you can use it. Most people dont want something on their site that can and will corrupt a surfer. They want you to use site. If nothing else ask Mcafees for the number to the web site so you can tell someone there is a problem. Hope this is help to you. If you really want to use site, (and it does look like a good site from a glance) you should persue making it safe.
