Staycations in Barbados!?

Posted by admin on August 10th, 2009 and filed under site advisor reviews | 3 Comments »

Hello there everyone…I just wanted to let you in on a little hidden gem right here in Barbados that few people know of.

I was not on this sight for the past week because I went on a ‘Staycation’ at a hotel called Barbados Beach Club located on Maxwell Coast Road Christ Church.

http://barbadosbeachclub.com/index.cfm

I read reviews on this hotel on trip advisor and before I went was a little apprehensive but still excited!

Some of you may recall a question that I asked earlier this year about a reaosnable hotel to take my mom to in December…well I ended up choosing Barbados Beach Club and I took her there for a week last week into this week and we simply enjoyed it to the fullest!!

This hotel is situated on a beautiful beachfront and has a nice air to it(it feels good)…by the way, this hotel is owned by a Bajan couple.

When I first went to look at it before taking my mom I was in awe at what I saw…you see this resort is a 3 * resort but the truth is that you get ALOT for a resort that is 3* and I wonder if the onwer even understands what a real gem he has on his hands!

It is an all inclusive resort…so much is included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Afternoon tea, unlimited drinks and lots more. The staff are excellent and make you feel really wlecomed and comfortable especially Michelle from the restaurant.

Now you see the thing that is incredible even more about this resort is the price…they have a LOCAL price that is very overwhelming: US80 per person per room which works out to BDS$158.40 per person and believe it or not that is for any view room…Ocean view included…now where on this island can you get an ocean view room on an all inclusive package for that price?? Trust me when I tell you no where because I called lots of hotels.

The rooms come with the things that 4* hotels come with which again was suprising for the price. There is 24/7 security on site and someone is alwasy at the front desk. There are 3 restaurants on site and the main one is the buffet one and the other two a la carte are seafood and the other is Italian(The buffet one is opened every day but not the a la carte ones). I have met people from the Caribbean there: Trinidad and all over and styaing there has been very relaxing for me and my mom and the other locals that we saw there as well.

The exercise room(gym) is pretty basic…Treadmills, exercise bicycles, weights of all sizes, a pull thingy that had weights on it and two other things I didnt know what they were lol.

Most of the staff at the restaurant are genuinely nice and VERY accomadating with you and you felt very comfortable dinning in their presence…I cant help saying that this place is a wonderful resort that is undiscovered right here in our very own Barbados.

The special local price that I told you guys about goes up to December 15th,2009 and from December 16th,2009 the price is US90 per perosn per room which workes out to BDS$178.20 per person per room.

Now I wanted to share this with the locals here on this site because it is a shame that we tend to end up paying loads of money to resorts that offer the same things and sometimes less than what this resort is offering because we dont know about it. Perosns from overseas go to this resort and enjoy and we should not let only them enjoy it because it is right here at out back door.

I also think that th ‘Staycation’ packages offered in the paper is a joke!! Those places dont offer all inclusive and are pretty costly to me and Mango Bay has joined them and is offering US200 a night all inclusive which is still more than Barbados Beach Club…but any way I dont mean to fly up in anyones face about the ones in the paper.

We all deserve a vacation..Check out Barbadoa Beach Club!!

Big timer I am not advertising per se I am just letting Bajan s know of the good resorts we have right here in Barbados. Dont you advertise your villa?

Thank you HF and Geo…It was really good..enjoyed it to the max.
BTW Big Timer I am not being paid! I dont even know the owner I just heard he is a Bajan by one of the workers.
Yes Big Timer I accept your apology…I am pretty forgiving…we cool!

=]

I missed you for a few days and was wondering what became of you. Thanks so much Bajan Princess, judging from your report the hotel is very nice and a great offer. If I do decide to go on one of these staycation I will surely consider Barbados Beach Club. I am glad you had a great time.

When will people realise that 9/11 has never been independently investigated?

Posted by admin on August 8th, 2009 and filed under site advisor reviews | 11 Comments »

I am sick of so many posts about 9/11 being a government conspiracy and others stating that it was not. These posters quote Loose Change if they are pro conspiracy and Popular Mechanics if they are anti conspiracy.

The simple fact is that what is presented by both these sides simply isn’t science. Science starts with a null hypothesis which these pro and anti arguments don’t. They state that it either was a conspiracy or it wasn’t and set out to prove that point. To reach the truth you need to start from a neutral point of view and let the evidence take you where it takes you.

There has been no peer reviewed assessment of popular mechanics, nor of the evidence in Loose Change. Science is easily bought. The White House for instance prevents its science advisors from attending pro global warming conferences or publishing pro global warming papers. The same can be said for these sites like popular mechanics. They use scientists who support their point of view!
To those who quote popular mechanics, I’ve looked at this site and there is no evidence on it. It is just a bunch of people saying that the other side cannot be true. There is no analysis, independent testing or hypothesis testing!!!! It is junk science at best and in reality is nothing more than opinion.

The site states the following
"a team of nine researchers and reporters who, together with PM editors" consulted 70 experts.

That is not science. I can find 70 experts that will state that beetroot cures AIDS (no kidding). I can find 70 experts to state that Popular Mechanics is wrong.

It simply is one side trying to prove their argument and that is not science.
I’m not saying there was a conspiracy or that there wasn’t. I saying that both areguments presented are false arguments based on nothing more than opinion.
Popular mechanics may be independent but that doesn’t prevent it setting out to disprove the other side. That is not how science works. The BBC is a news organisation not a scientific organisation
The History channel is not a scientific body either.

As for the idiot who asked what is to investigate - look how much money was spend investigating a stain on a blue dress! Get some perspective.

Fisk, writing for the Independent has also raised suspicions about 9/11. is he not independent. There are lots of independent websites and now journals who report one side or the other. Only when they investigate from neutral point of view can the truth be found. When they begin by trying to prove their own side then that is simply wrong. If Thor Girl and others don’t understand this scientific concept then there is no point trying to explain it further to them.

Ok, yes, you are correct, 9/11 has not been investigated properly, Bush even had the audacity to try and install the war-criminal Henry Kissinger as head of the commission, when that failed more "yes men" were given the job instead.

As with any crime, we should be looking at who had a motive, Osama Bin Laden had many, certainly the Muslim world has suffered greatly both directly and indirectly from US. Foreign policy. The corrupt kings and puppet presidents that rule the Muslim world all could not do so without US. support for their atrocities and human rights abuses.

Also it is necessary to look at how the attack was funded, bank transfers from the government officials of Pakistan have just been ignored.

The 9/11 commissions report was not anything like a thorough investigation, but even its recommendations have all but been ignored.

Instead what we have is a hi-jacking of the events of 9/11 to enable Bush to rally support for his illegal wars, but he is not alone in this, US. Presidents over the last 50+ years have followed the same formula to get the people to go along with wars, which if they had been given the real reasons for war, they would not have supported.

“Naturally the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

Need a cheap London hotel- December 2009?

Posted by admin on August 3rd, 2009 and filed under site advisor reviews | 4 Comments »

Hi, I am looking to stay in London for 4 nights- 20th - 24th of December, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good deals for hotels? I want as cheap as possible excluding any sort of shared room/ dorms, and at least 2.5 stars, aiming for 3, esp by reviews through sites like trip advisor. I also want to be as central as possible, at least zone 4 of the London underground network.

I have looked a bit online, but nothing is standing out at me at the moment! I have stayed in London plenty of times before but this time definitely needs to be on as small a budget as possible!!

Many thanks for any help you can give me, I promise 10 points for the best answer!
Oh thanks for the fast reply and suggestion ஐ♥PinkBoo - TTC #1♥ஐ, I will def check your suggestions out!

I Just wanted to add as well for any future answers that I need a single room for one person only, so deals for 2 people or double rooms can’t be used!

Thanks again

Travelodge were doing offers in November - December from £19 per room.

Also, paypal are doing an offer. If you book a hotel with Superbreaks you get 10% off (worth it if your staying a few nights).

Would also look at those travel supermarket websites, for the best hotels in the area…

regarding the area… i would go for kings cross and surrounding areas. central but the cheapest hotels
hope that helps

Opera VS Firefox?

Posted by admin on August 1st, 2009 and filed under site advisor reviews | 17 Comments »

Which one should I use?
PC World picked up opera as first one,
http://internet-browser-review.toptenreviews.com/
I have tried both but it’s difficult to decide as both have bad and good things…….for example while opera can be customized easily without a need of addons,it doesn’t support and work properly with some of web sites also most of good things like yahoo toolbar and site advisor is available for firefox and ie only……so what you suggest and why?
Thanks to all answers.

I use Firefox. I have never tried Opera but I have heard it is a pretty good browser.
Firefox has some really great add-ons like E-Bay Negs (you can find out all of the sellers neg feedbacks in one click), Image Zoom (you right click on any picture then scroll to make it bigger) and heaps of others.
Either Opera or Firefox, anything except Internet Explorer, lol
