The safest site for downloading free movies?

Posted by admin on April 9th, 2010 and filed under or site advisor | 4 Comments »

Ive been trying to find a site from which to download movies for free. I have Mcafee site advisor and when i click on most sites Mcafee site advisor warns against it. Should i stay away from these sites or is Mcafee site advisor just being precautionary?

stay away from them. the reason site advisor says stay away is that you can’t tell if the file you are wanting to d/l is actually the file you found in search. and in some cases people add stuff like viri to the movie files they are sharing. mostly trojans that open a backdoor so they can brouser your personal data. also any movie you d/l from the web is copywritten and therefore it’s illegal to d/l it. you want movies go to blockbuster or one of the other sales places and buy your movies like the rest of us honest people.

McAfee Site Advisor on firefox? (can’t find it)?

Posted by admin on April 7th, 2010 and filed under or site advisor | 2 Comments »

Well I asked what kind of add ons people use and two people recommended mcafee site adviser and I couldn’t find it when I searched add ons. Is it spelled wrong or called something else, or no longer available or something?

You just go to this site http://www.siteadvisor.com/ using your firefox browser and then in the bottom right hand corner there should be a big orange button that says "Download SiteAdvisor now for firefox"

How do i disable McAfee site advisor?!?

Okay, I know how. You click the arrow and check that the site is abled. Or something like that I can’t exatcly remember the exact words but It’s something like that. I’ve heard that from many people, but wheres’s the arrow/ thats what I dont understand, people keep saying "click to arrow on site advisor" or similar things to that. I can’t seem to find the arrow. Sorry this is kind of a dumb question… but I’m not to good with this program. So if you could help me it would be great:)

How do I kill Mcafee site advisor? These pop ups are annoying!!!?

Posted by admin on April 3rd, 2010 and filed under or site advisor | 3 Comments »

I recently updated the mcafee site advisor program that I’ve used for years, Now every time I open a browser window whether it’s firefox, internet explorer, or opera, i get annoying pop ups asking if I want to make yahoo my default search browser, block red sites, and use mcafee safe search box feature. Even though I click DECLINE and remove the pre-checked boxes, it does it anyway. Then a couple more pop ups come up about the End User License Agreement (EULA). This is really pissing me off.

I have tried going into control panel to remove the program but it isn’t even listed there. I tried to uninstall the plug in but after I click uninstall it turns grey/fades out but doesn’t do anything else. It’s still there. I also tried system restore but the pop ups still keep coming up.

Is this program unsafe/malware now? Any ideas on how to kill it once and for all? Lastly, yes I have pop-ups disabled on all browsers but mcafee’s still come up anyway!!!

I am having the same problem. I checked site advisor settings and they are NOT checked. I also tried to disable site advisor on the website but the next web page still has it active.

I AGREE THIS IS TOTALLY ANNOYING!!!

Can you get a virus from a site before it loads?

Posted by admin on April 1st, 2010 and filed under or site advisor | 2 Comments »

I accidentally made a typo when typing a site address. I quickly caught it and hit X before the site even loaded. I went to site-advisor and typed in the address of the typo and it said that it had links to a suspicious website, which had either a virus on it or problems. If this website didn’t even load, could I still get a virus from it?

Yes it is possible,

ive already tried a search
When i use the mcrp tool and im trying to install kaspersky 2009 it starts to install and then my computer shuts and and says error and the mcrp tool dissapears
and i cant see it in add ons
i already removed perfect uninstaller the error that comes up says it shut down becuase harm was being done to my computer
Every time i reply to you it doesnt go threw
and yeah i tried both of those things

You need to run the MCPR.exe tool to remove the remnant McAfee from a messy uninstallation. It would be ideal to close your running programs before running the MCPR.exe tool and that means closing the browser and messenger and so on.

Scroll down to: Step 2 - Download and run MCPR.exe

1. Download the removal tool from:

programmes like mcafee site advisor etc?

Posted by admin on March 28th, 2010 and filed under or site advisor | 2 Comments »

show sites as red or yellow if they are of "dubious" nature
ie:adult x sites and some video clip sites similar to youtube
warning of spyware adware etc.
Well i regularly visit video clip sites other than "nice and proper"youtube and i have never had a problem with spyware malware yet .And i have and use most of the best free anti malware anti rootkit programmes that there is.
Are these" prevention better than cure" programmes like site advisor a form of self imposed censorship
by turning the over cautious user away from visiting Sites that are not seen as being appropriate.Funny how mainstream youtube heavily regulated with the usual 1001 rules of use put in place is always as clean as a whistle and almost reccomended you should visit, afterall lots of people all active in one place is so much easier to monitor and censor

If you don’t have probs with the sites that McAfee shows red on, fair enough, but it’s not trying to censor anything, it merely shows results obtained from using the site in question. A red setting doesn’t always mean spyware is present, if you click on the McAfee indicator to view site details it shows why they’ve rated it the way they have, could be spam e-mails if you enter your address.
To go back to the censorship thing, some really hardcore porn sites show green. So I’m told!!

How accurate is Mcafee site advisor?

Posted by admin on March 26th, 2010 and filed under or site advisor | 2 Comments »

I’ve just updated my AV. Now I find the "site advisor" on my browser. Out of curiosity, I googled "My Space" just to see what would come up. It stated that the site has been tested and that it is safe to use. This after the media had run stories of a virus coming from myspace.

Again, I then googled some porn sites to see what would come up. Again, the sites were said to have been tested and that there were no issues. As I understand most porn sites are notorious for spyware, adware and trojans.

So, just how reliable is this "site advisor" thing? Does anyone have any opinion or knowledge of it?
Sachin:

I just updated my Mcafee AV. It was about to expire. This came from the Mcafee website included in the package that I ordered. I didn’t load this from a pop up or anything like that.

McAfee relies on users to help decide so if you find any bad sites you can report them. I find it is klike everything else just another tool. It helps but at the end of the day security is down to us. I am not sure what the other guy was on about, I think he answered the wrong questiom.
